The first step towards repairing damaged carpet is to ensure that the situation that caused the damage can be avoided or limited as much as possible. The last thing you’ll want as a homeowner is to repair the same section of carpet multiple times. Next, we’ll come to your home and perform an analysis of the carpet fibers and the color and determine if we have the material to perform the repair that day or if we need to order the proper material. Third, our expert carpet repair technician will remove the damaged section of carpet, carefully planning for seamless transitions. Finally, your new section of carpet will be seamlessly joined with your existing carpet!
Unfortunately, most installers have no idea how to properly install carpet. Most often, what happens is the installer just cuts the carpet to fit the space it’s in. From there they use a knee-kicker to set the carpet. But this doesn’t lead to a successful install! In fact, the carpet hasn’t been “Installed” at all.
“But it looked good.” Well, that’s part of the problem. Some installers actually believe they have done a good job. And understandably so. At the end of the day, they are able to look back at their work and say it looks good. And it does! The problem is, it usually takes about 4 years for the 1st ripple to appear. And from there it is sure to get worse. This is why most carpet dealers and/or installers will only offer a 1 or 2-year guarantee. And what you get, in the end, is a guarantee of nothing.
At Colossal Carpet Care, we know how to handle carpet re-stretching. The reason your carpet has ripples is that there is too much carpet in the room. We pull up the carpet, trim it shy of the wall, and use a power-stretcher to reinstall it properly! Then, we Colossal Carpet Care guarantees that ripples wont reform for the life of the carpet!
At Colossal Carpet Care, we know that dealing with water damage in your home can be very stressful. Carpet flood repair can be a headache you don’t need and that’s why our expert carpet technicians do everything to make the experience go as smoothly as possible.
Phase 1: After arriving at your home, our experts determine if the wet areas have a pad under the carpet. If it does, the pad usually needs to be removed. We use a water sensor to make sure we know exactly which areas are wet. Depending on the severity, Colossal Carpet Care may then use a water claw to remove as much water as possible from the wet pad. The next step would be to carefully pull up the carpet and remove the wet pad. Now that the padding has been removed we can work on getting the carpet dry. We extract the wet carpet and then set it back in place so that we can insert commercial blowers. The carpet generally takes a couple of days to completely dry. This phase includes a disinfectant treatment to help with any odors and to protect against mold and mildew.
Phase 2: After we know that the carpet is completely dry and that the issue causing the leak has been resolved, we return to get your home back in living order. We may disinfect the floor again before we begin, but the first thing we do is install the new padding. Next, we disinfect the backing of the carpet and then we re-install it. Then, our experts steam-clean all affected areas and apply disinfectant as needed.
